Fix for Wake after sleep freeze on Dell Latitudes

This turned out to be an issue with the O2Micro SD/MMC drivers on the E6420/E6430 units that we had. After adding new drivers to our MDT server I started getting reports from users stating that their laptops were completely freezing up after waking from sleep - no response to keyboard, mouse, etc.  No mini dumps were generated, powercfg - energy didn't show any major issues, and event viewer was useless.  It was occuring both on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 builds.

It wasn't until after I started disabling hardware components in Device Manager that I found a correlation between disabling the O2Micro SD/MMC controllers and it being able to wake from sleep.  (I rebooted after each diagnostic test just to make sure all changes were in full effect)

Installing an older version of the driver and rebooting fixed the problem on all the laptops that were having the hang issue.  Of course, just disabling the SD/MMC controllers is a fine fix too.

I had the same issue on a Dell Latitude E6330. I ran DriverMAX to update all the drivers on the Laptop but forgot to scan the Programs in Control Panel. The Laptop would lockup on SLeep and Hibernate. I checked the Programs in Control Panel and noticed there were 2 O2 Drivers installed. Uninstalled both and reinstalled latest Dell for my laptop resolved the Sleep and Hibernate lockups.

Really helped a lot with my Dell Latitude E6430... It formulated a behaviour of hanging each time I turned it on aafter hibernation... Now I picked Driver_54WK9_WN_3.0.07.44_A04.EXE from

Thank you so very much.
Your work is still saving people like me a ton of frustrations and work in 2018!!
However, I have a similar problem on a Dell Latitude E4310 which has a Richo MMC/SD card reader, and disable the Richo driver made no difference :-(

I recently bought a Dell E6220, updated everything, then found it would not wake after sleeping.

Nearly nine years after being posted, the information and advice in this thread have enabled me to resolve the problem!

Thank you.
